{FlasHbacK FriDaY}

Both of these pictures are from this week last year in 2012.  They were probably taken within minutes of each other and describe Zoey to a T!!!

She is full of sugar....

and spice....

....and everything in between!!  You never know what you're gonna get or what's gonna set her off!!

My family laughs at this and says I deserve every bit of it because I was supposedly the EXACT SAME WAY!!!  Well, all I have to say to that is that she's adopted....she's not supposed to exhibit the bad traits that I had when I was a kid....and then come back to use it against me....NO FAIR!!!

{30 ThinGs My kiDs sHoulD kNow aBouT mE #4}

List 10 things you would tell your 16 year old self, if you could:

1.  You are one lucky girl that you get a gas card from your parents who pay for your gas!  Speaking of gas, remember that at 16, you could get a gallon of gas for $.98 because one day you will pay over $4 for gas!!

2.  Be grateful to your parents that you don't have to work cuz most of your friends will have to work through school and will have to pay for many of their own things!  Although you don't have to work and don't have to pay for your own gas, don't forget that you worked your butt off on the basketball court....and that was the deal your parent's made with you....as long as you are playing sports (which really is a full time job), you don't have to work!  Appreciate them for that....I am sure you will try to do the same for your own kids when they are older!

3.  Be a good friend....you will still be in touch with many of your girlfriends from high school when you are a 35 year old mom

4.  Don't be embarrassed by that orange 1970's Jeep that you are driving to school....it is way cooler than all the other brand new sports cars and trucks you see parked in the high school parking lot....and just be grateful that you even have a car that you get to drive every day! :)

5.  Don't ever stop sticking up for what you believe in.....even if everyone else is doing something different....when you are all grown up, you will look back and be proud of yourself for not giving into peer pressure!

6.  Be careful driving....slow down and try to not drive with so many friends in the car (I turned 16 my sophomore year and was the 1st of my friends to get a license....also had my first car accident at 16 with 2 friends in the car)!  :(

7.  Stop being such a snot and start to be nice to your mom....I know you think you can't stand her right now and you prove that by making her life a living hell, but one day you will consider her one of your closest "friends"....give her a break and appreciate her more because one day you will be a mom and you will want your own daughter to appreciate you!

8.  Even though you are in the "popular" crowd, don't be so impressed by the popular people....because in reality, the popular people become losers and the pretty people usually end up ugly!  :)

9.  Do better at school....when you are applying for colleges, you will wish you had a better GPA

10.  Invite friends over to your house more, you have "cool" parents and don't have anything to be "embarrassed" about....when you are a parent, you will want your kids to invite their friends over often, so I am sure your parents would appreciate it too!

Describe your relationship with your spouse:

We joke all the time that we had an arranged marriage, but we really did!!  Grandpa Gary and Grandpa Roger knew each other long before we did and when Grandpa Roger was tired of Mommy mooching off of him, he told Grandpa Gary that they should introduce me to one of his sons!  HA!  Who knew that those silly old Grandpa's would've known what they were doing 11 years ago!!

We didn't date for very long before we decided we wanted to be married!  I think it was on our 3rd or 4th date that I knew I would marry Daddy!!  We had a crazy date and by the end of it, I was so impressed by how Daddy handled it that I knew I needed to marry him!  By the time Daddy got around to asking me to marry him, we had only been dating for about 6 weeks!  That doesn't surprise me though because that is how we do things.....when we know what we want, we don't waste any time....we go right out and get it!!

Daddy and I went through some tough times at the beginning of our marriage when we were struggling to start our family.  We had some bumps in the road....or if I use the analogy that Daddy likes to use, we had some rough sailing!  But through it all, we had each other and those tough times really brought us closer together!

We are very different in so many ways.....which sometimes makes us drive each other crazy, but for the most part, we use it to our advantage and we really complement each other.  Where Daddy is weak, Mommy is strong and vice versa!  We really consider ourselves to be a great team!  We communicate about everything (this sometimes drives Daddy nuts cuz Mommy likes to "talk everything out" too much sometimes) and we are usually on the same page with what we want!  We talk about you kids ALL THE TIME and are always talking about what we can do differently as parents and how we can do a better job raising you!

This summer we will be celebrating our 11th anniversary!  That seems like such a long time so far!  We have spent the last almost 7 years focusing on our family and being parents....it's hard to balance everything...you will learn all about that when you have a family of your own!  But we know that the day will come when you guys will be all grown up and out of the house and we will be right back to where we started......it will be just the 2 of us and we will have plenty of time to focus on each other!!  But for now, we will focus on the 3 best things that have ever happened to us.....Ayden, Zoey and Maddix!!!  :)

Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears:

I'm afraid that this is one of those posts I could go on and on with listing my fears.  The older I get and now that I am a Mom, I have become a huge worry wart.  I never used to be a big worrier (I don't think so anyway), so it's super annoying!  I wish I had simple fears like a fear of spiders, or a fear of heights, or a fear of swimming with sharks, or something like that.  I feel like my fears are bigger than those and that makes them EVEN bigger fears!!  Blah!!

1.  I am so scared of losing someone I love too early.  It gives me major anxiety to think about losing any of your kids or your daddy.  I am the most comfortable when we are all together in the safety of our own home.  I realize I have to "cut the cord" at some point, but I just don't want to sometimes and I wish I could keep you all in a bubble FOREVER.....it scares me to death to send you off in this crazy world we live in.  I will let you go....as I am supposed to....but I may stomp my feet and kick and scream (just kidding) and I may worry about you along the way....but I will do it.  I think this fear has become a reality because the older I get, the more I hear about other people having to experience these things....and to be honest, I just couldn't EVEN imagine!!

**One of my fears flashing before my very eyes last summer!!  :(  Blah!!**

2.  I have a fear of failing as a parent.  It freaks me out to think that we may do something wrong or NOT do something we are supposed to do and lead you down the wrong path.  Even good parents have kids that "stray" or get lost and that is a scary reality for me!  I want to do everything I can to protect you and provide you with everything you need to be an amazing adult!!

3.  I have a fear that I will not live every day to its fullest.  Having regrets is a HUGE fear!  I do now want to look back on my life and say "If only I would've/could've/should've....."  I don't want to have regrets....I am not a person that lives life with a lot of regrets.  I can only think of a couple things I "regret" in my entire life so far!  I don't want to wish I did something differently....or wish I DIDN'T do something I should have.....I don't want to wish I had appreciated something that I didn't appreciate.  I just want to realize all of that now so that I can look back and be happy about the way I lived my life....without any regrets!!

{FlasHbaCk FriDaY}

As I've mentioned many times on my blog, I "flashback" all the time and look at old pics to see what the kids looked liked, what stages they were at and what we were doing at certain times.  I also like to look at pictures from exactly a year ago....to see just what we were doing in March LAST year.  So I'm gonna start posting a picture that was taken during that given week the year prior on "flashback Friday" each week!  My kids love looking back at old pictures of themselves....even if it was just a year ago, so I know that they will love browsing the blog and seeing these pictures too!!  :)

So here it goes.....

On March 18, 2012 Maddix was 5 months old and this was my life.....

I watched this boy be a barfasauras all day long every day.....I cleaned up puke all day, changed his clothes (and mine) multiple times a day and had a hard time keeping him "full" since he kept spitting everything he ate out!!  I remember thinking to myself, "this is so hard...when is this every going to end"?!?!!?  Hmmmm......now I look back and wonder if 5 month old Maddix was easier than almost 18 month old Maddix......the almost 18 month old Maddix that picked up a picture frame off a table in my living room this morning, brought it over to me and as he stood at my feet, he raised the frame above his head and THREW it with full force onto the ground in front of me....shattering the glass all over the place.....on one of my favorite picture frames!  Hmmmm......terror toddler or barfing baby.....now that's a tough one to decide on!!!

List 20 (or 25...hehe) Random Facts About Yourself:

1.  I have a major problem with biting my nails and the skin around them until they bleed....I have done this since I was a little kid.  It drives Daddy nuts.  Grammy used to put yucky tasting stuff on my nails so I wouldn't bite them....it didn't work.
2.  I played basketball from the time that I was in 5th grade through college.  If I could go back and do it all again, I would've tried volleyball.
3.  I graduated from college early....in 3 1/2 years...all that shows is that I am a person that always wants to hurry and move on to the next stage!
4.  I have a hard time living in the moment.....I am always planning and looking for what's "coming next"!
5.  I can't whistle.
6.  I don't like to have my body parts hanging off the bed when I sleep....I am worried something is going to grab me!  And I don't like when someone is walking up the stairs behind me, especially in the dark....I am afraid of being chased.  I am convinced that both of these things stem back to my childhood and being scared of the boogie man!!
7.  I can't stand messes and clutter.  When I am cooking or baking, I use one ingredient, spice, utensil, pan, etc and put it away before I get out the next thing.  I never have a big mess and big messes give me anxiety.
8.  I always wanted to be a psychologist....but when I failed "Intro to Psych" my freshman year of college, I had to change my plans.  Darnit.....that was only because I was too busy hanging out with a boy when I should've been studying!!
9.  I have a really good long term memory....I still remember all of my old phone numbers, addresses and the birthdays of old friends and even friends I haven't talked to since high school!!
10.  I hate going to the movies....I can't stand to sit in the movie theater for 2 hours.  There is usually 1 or 2 movies a year that I am excited to go see, otherwise, I don't ever go.  I don't like to watch movies at home either.  I love TV tho and could sit and watch TV shows for HOURS!!
11.  I am a really bad eater and eat way too much sugar....and I am super picky and don't like to try new foods!!
12.  I knew that I was going to marry your Daddy after we went on our 3rd or 4th date!
13.  I only remember having 2 dolls in my entire life.....one I can picture to this day and a boy cabbage patch kid doll, named Davie, that I got for my 6th birthday.  So I wasn't a huge fan of dolls obviously, but for as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a Mommy!!
14.  I don't like scary rides or roller coasters....never have.
15.  I like to read, but can't find the time to do it.....or just don't make the time I guess.  I have a subscription to 8 different magazines that come every month.  I think right now, I have 30 or 40 magazines sitting in a pile waiting to be read....from cooking magazines, to parenting magazines, to running magazines, to home decorating magazines.
16.  I hate spiders, mice, rats, snakes, lizards.....and anything else that is slimy or moves too quick or disgusting.
17.  I get so much more satisfaction from buying things for you kids than I do when I buy something for myself....that might explain why I never have new clothes and you all look like a million bucks every day!!
18.  I am naturally a "glass is half empty" type of person and struggle daily to not think negative thoughts.  Sometimes I get so bad where one negative thought leads to another and then to another and then to another and before long, I am thinking and worrying about the WORST things EVER!!
19.  I always dream of days where I can wear sweats, throw my hair in a bun and not wear any makeup....but in all honesty, I really love to get ready every day.....even if it means minimal makeup and just blow drying my hair so that it isn't wet.  I know the day will come when I have more time than I want to "make myself up"!!
20.  My blog keeps me sane.  People always ask me how I find the time to blog....the answer is that I MAKE the time....because it's super important to me and I know I will always look back and be glad I did!
21.  I was this tall (5'10") in 5th grade I think.  I hated being the tallest one in my class.  I was so self conscious of it.  I had the LONGEST and SKINNIEST little legs and was teased for being so tall...my nickname was "daddy long legs" (maybe that is why I hate spiders so much)!!  I never would date someone shorter than me.....NEVER EVER EVER!!!  I always hated wearing heels because I didn't want to make myself taller....and still hate heels to this day.  But today.....I LOVE being tall....I feel like I am the PERFECT height and now that I am older, it is a GREAT thing!
22.  I am not a grumpy person when I don't get sleep.  I am a morning person and a night person both.  I wake up 3 days a week at 4:30 am to run before Daddy goes to work....and I wake up at 5:30 am on Saturday mornings to get my run in!
23.  I am obsessed with cereal....I eat it for breakfast, sometimes lunch, and my bedtime snack is always a bowl of cereal.
24.  One of the best decisions I've ever made in my life was becoming a member of "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" at the age of 21.  I can't imagine my life without the church....it has been the best thing for me!!
25.  I honestly look back on my childhood and growing up and for the most part, love every minute of what I remember.  I can't think of much I would change about my childhood....and for that, Grammy and Grandpa should be patting themselves on the back.  I hope you 3 can say the same thing about your childhood when you are my age!!

{30 ThinGs My kiDs sHoulD kNow aBouT mE}

I got this idea on pinterest.  Like the mom that started this idea, I use (and have used for the past 7 years) my blog as a journal....the whole purpose is to document our life in these days so that our kids will be able to look back and see and read what life was like as they were growing up.  That is why I fell in love with this idea.  I am a little hesitant to post this on the blog because I know it's pretty boring stuff....unless you are me....or my kids when they are older and reading this.  But I know if it's not on the blog, I won't write it anywhere else, so I figured why not!!  And oh how I would love to have had this stuff to read about my 35 year old mom way back when.....to see what her life was like when she was my age and raising a 13 year old boy and an 8 year old girl!  I plan on completing one of these on the list whenever I get a chance....and I may not go in order, but my goal is to just finish!!  And when I do, how fun it will be to make it into a book as a gift for each of my kids....what a special thing this will be for them when I am long gone!!  :)

{TyPicaL WeeKenD}

This is a typical weekend these days.....

....an early and quick dinner out (yummy that looks good right now) before baseball games....

....kids begging to go to the "chah-tay-la-tay" (our fancy way of saying chocolate) store after dinner (I have trained them well).....

.....Saturday night baseball under the lights....love this part of spring when we have warm weekend nights to watch baseball....

.....Ayden kisses the bat before hitting....

....come home from baseball and it's bedtime....woohoo....

....and then Sunday morning we do silly things like this to entertain ourselves before 1:00 pm church.....

....box car races.....

The weekends seem to be going way too fast these days!!  I remember not too long ago, I used to look forward to Mondays when the kids went back to school.....and I would look forward to the end of spring break and the end of summer so we could get back on our schedules again.  And now I find myself counting down until the days that I can have my kids home ALL day EVERY day!!  Tomorrow is our last day of school before a 2 week spring break.....that I am GREATLY looking forward to!  And then when they do go back to school, we only have 8 weeks to go til summer.....but who's counting?!?!  Isn't it the kids that are supposed to be counting down things like this....not the moms!!!  :-/

{TaKe mE ouT to ThE BaLL gaMe....}

On Saturday, we headed to San Diego after Ayden's morning baseball game to spend the day with cousins!!    We met everyone at Chick-Fil-A for a quick lunch and Mr. Cow showed up.  Ayden and Zoey are so funny these days....they always ask me to take their picture and put it on the blog or facebook!  :)  They don't have to ask me twice!!

After lunch, we went to Joe & Cara's house to (quickly) celebrate Crew's 5th birthday, which was a couple weeks ago!  These boys are ALWAYS excited to get legos for their bday!!

And it didn't take long to rip them open and get to work!!!

Maddix had fun exploring the backyard for their two bunnies that were running around!!  Maybe we need a pet bunny to keep that little guy busy and entertained?!?!?

Maddix and Cooper....Cooper is growing like a weed and at 12 years old, he just passed me up, but I am sure it won't be long before Maddix is passing him up!!  :)

We are celebrating Zoey's bday in a couple weeks, but she was lucky enough to get to open 2 small presents with Crew.  She got a cute little dress from Grammy and Grandpa to wear to a special, surprise outing that is planned for her on her bday!!  :)

Auntie Cara gave Zoey a sweet little gift that she made.....

It was 2 little bracelets that she made for Zoey using necklaces of Zoey's great grandma (my mom's mom).  Zoey loves jewelry and sparkly things, so this was right up her alley!!  And she loved them!!  :)

After lunch and mini birthday parties, it was time for a day FULL of baseball.....all of this after sitting through Ayden's game earlier that morning!

Take me out to the (t-ball) game......(Crew playing t-ball)

....and then another ball game..... (Carter pitching)

.....and then another ball game..... (Cooper pitching)

Take me out to the crowd (our little cheering section with Grammy & Grandpa).....

Good thing Grandpa brought peanuts and cracker jacks (and M&M's too for Mommy)......

I don't care if I never get back (or maybe I do, it felt like a long long day by the end of it).....

Let me root, root, root for the home team....

If they don't win (or if Carter doesn't share his snack bar goods with everyone else) it's a shame!!

For it's one, two, three GAMES we're FINALLY done.....at the old ball game!!!!

Phew!!  It was a LONG day, but the kids had a blast!!  Us adults were exhausted, but we had a babysitter all lined up and reservations made for the 6 of us to go out for an adult time dinner!!  It's always great to get adult time to chat since it doesn't happen very much with 6 kids hanging around!!  Thanks to my mom and dad, we have started a new tradition (this was only dinner out #2) for all 6 of us to go out to a nice dinner every other month!

It was a chilly night, so we ate inside, but after dinner, we sat under the heat and ate dessert outside!!

My cute parents....

Jer and I....

No pics of my brother and Cara cuz they made goofy faces in all of their pics!  It was a great family day and we are looking forward to the next one!!  :)

{ThiS bOy iS a HanDfuL}

I cannot believe that our "baby" will be 18 months in just 2 weeks!!  I don't have a very good memory of Ayden and Zoey at this age....now that I think of it, maybe I blocked those times out of my memory!  HA!  But I do know that almost 18 month old Maddix is a major handful!  He is a busy body, he is non stop, he is intense, he is a dare devil....I guess he is just ALL BOY!!

And as these pictures show, he is always up in everyone's business these days as well!!  :)  Anytime someone has a chair pulled out, he helps himself by climbing up to check out what they are doing!

Checking out what sissy is reading.....

Zoey loves her "boo-boo"!!  I don't know what Maddix is gonna do next year when Zoey is at school EVERY day....these two love to play together every day!  :)

I think for sure Maddix's favorite toy is balls!!  He gets so excited when he sees a ball!  He calls anything that is remotely round a ball.....including balloons and plasticeaster eggs!  When we leave him with a babysitter, I always tell the babysitter that when he starts to cry, just give him a ball....and that always seems to cheer him up!! :)

Did I mention he is a climber too?!?!!?  I seriously catch him up on top of our island counter at least 10 times a day!  He climbs up there and sometimes scoots back to sit in his seat....like he is doing here....and that usually means, "I'm hungry, get me some food Mom"!  I have to keep the counter clear so he doesn't get anything he shouldn't and I hope he never falls off and cracks his head open!!

As you can see in a lot of these pics, Maddix can often be found with a binky in his mouth these days....and his favorite blankie (or two) in his arm....held up to his face!  He really wasn't a baby that was into the binky, even though we tried to push it for a while.  And now that he is getting older and we are getting closer to the time to take it away for good, he is falling in love with it!!  Oh great!!  I'm sure this will make things interesting in the next 6 months!  :-/

And just since we are talking about Maddix, I had to include this picture.  He was the last one to get the flu in our house.  Zoey and Ayden had it a week apart and after almost a week and a half without Maddix catching it, I thought we were in the clear!!  That is until..........

I was putting him to bed one night and and was holding him flat in my arms.  He had his binky in and all of a sudden it was like a volcano exploded....the binky flew out and chunks of puke spewed everywhere....all over him, his face, me, his bed and the carpet in his bedroom!!  :(  Luckily it was a one time thing and he didn't puke all night long!!  Phew!!

Needless to say, this boy keeps us on our toys!  I can't imagine what kind of toddler and little boy he will turn out to be.....but I am sure we will be busy!!

{a LittLe of ThiS anD a LittLe of ThaT}

Brothers giving "buh bye" hugs for the day!  Maddix sure does miss his big "bubba" all day long!  I may not be the only one around here that is anxious for summer time!!  :)

Another bit the dust at our house with the yucky flu sickness!!  Poor Zoey!  The only thing worse than having Ayden puking is having Zoey puking!  This was the first time she had really thrown up and she FREAKED OUT!!!  It was sad, but luckily only lasted for a few hours!  I was sure that Maddix would've gotten it 5 days after Zoey since she got it 5 days after Ayden, but today is a whole week later and nothing yet!! YAY!!

Zoey had her little friend Annie over to play and her sister Jayne came too.....I looked over and saw these 3 cute girls laying on the floor watching Tinkerbell!!  :)

This girly girl of mine spent 30 minutes browsing through the Nordstrom catalog that came in the mail....she ooh'd and ahhh'd over all the cute styles and circled what she wanted with her Crayola marker!!  :)  She is a girl after my own heart and it's no wonder that she has been saying her favorite store is Nordies since she was 2 years old!!  :)

Another funny from Zoey this week.....she told me that she wasn't gonna wear green to school on St. Patty's Day because if she doesn't wear great then her little friend Coleman would want to kiss her!!  Ayden teased her and said "oooooh.....that must mean that you like Coleman".  She said, "No I don't.....Coleman has a crush on me!  But I am going to start spending time with Cash (another little boy in her class) to see if I want him to be my boyfriend"!!  HA!  I laughed and I said "Oh, you are"??  And she replied with "Yes, I told him at snack time today that I was going to do that"!!  She also said that she doesn't know what to do because Coleman is a cuter boy, but Cash is so funny and makes her laugh!  Oh my she is funny and is she really only 4 years old?!?!  We are definitely gonna be in trouble when this girl is old enough to date!!!  Heaven help me!!!

Thank goodness that the weekend is here!!  It's cold and rainy today, but we are supposed to have sunshine tomorrow!!  Yay for that.....and boo who for losing an hour of sleep and dark early mornings again!  I was really starting to enjoy that it wasn't pitch black the whole time for my early morning runs....but now it will be again!!  At least we will get an extra hour of light at the end of the day....and that only means that summer is right around the corner!!  :)

{BaTTer uP}

It's time for Spring ball again and I have to admit I'm pretty excited about it!  Last year was t-ball and it was a little....well....boring!!  Luckily we had some friends on the team, so that kept it entertaining for me at least! :)  This year we have no friends on our team, but it is coach pitch instead of t-ball and that makes it much more interesting!!  Ayden was excited to play baseball again this year and he's excited to be a Yankee!!  :)

Opening day parade last Saturday.....

Ayden had his first game on Tuesday night.  It was cold and we froze our tooshies off watching him!  Ayden got a couple hits off the coach pitch and then hit a couple times off the tee (after 3 pitches from the coach, they hit off the tee).....

He has his little ritual when he is up to bat.....tap the bat on the base a couple times, then bring he kisses the bat....oh my, this kid is all about the little rituals of sports that he sees and picks up on!  It is funny to see and when he kissed the bat for the first time, everyone in the stands laughed!

He also loves to slide into home plate!  This game, he slid really hard and he said he got a strawberry!  HA!

Funny story....they recommend that all boys wear a cup starting at this level.  So we got Ayden one and he was obsessed with it at home and wore it around the house and kept knocking on it! HA!  Typical boy I am sure, right?!?!  Well, after the game on Tuesday, I asked him, "So, how did your cup work out for your first game?"  He replied, "Good, but I didn't really need to use it"!  HAHA!!  Jeremiah and I laughed and told him hopefully he never has to use it....it's like a bike helmet that you wear "just in case" and hopefully never need it!  LOL!  It was funny!!  :)

We're excited for a busy season with 2 games a week.  So far Ayden seems to be enjoying it and he seems to really get it this year!  But in past sports, we notice that Ayden plays super amazing on the first game of the season and then something happens and he starts getting distracted and bored for the rest of the season.....hopefully that doesn't happen and we don't witness him picking grass in the outfield or pretending his bat is a light saber!!  :)

I'm afraid that the biggest challenge of baseball season might be this little stinker this year......

If he isn't on the playground, he is a whining terror!!  It might make for a LONG season......we might just have to strap him in his stroller and pay Zoey to walk him around in circles to keep him happy!!  :)

Go Yankees!!!!
