And Zoe can almost always be found with a book in her hand! She is such a little book worm and is starting to "read" books out loud....which I love to hear! She turns the pages and says word after word!

Ayden started having a little anxiety attack whenever we would get him dressed for church....no, it's not that he didn't want to go to church....it's that he didn't want to wear his church shoes! This went on for about 3 weeks....the poor kid kept saying that his shoes were too small and hurt his feet. We forced the shoes on his feet....they did fit just fine a week or so ago, I would say to myself! He would cry and throw a fit, he would take his shoes off and we would put them back on....over and over and over again! We thought he just didn't want to wear his nice shoes! That is, until I decided to measure his foot! Poor guy was absolutely right....his church shoes were WAY TOO SMALL for his growing feet!! I swear that he is growing like a weed these days. He wants to eat all day long and would probably eat the house down if we let him! When we measured, it said he should be wearing a size 10 1/2 and all his church shoes were an 8 1/2!!! Oops!! Sorry buddy!! So we ordered 2 new pairs of church shoes in a size 11 and last Sunday, we had a much better experience getting dressed for church! Before his new shoes arrived, he came into our room one Sunday and said, "Ok, I am ready for church". I looked down at his feet and noticed that not only was he wearing flip flops, but they were on the wrong feet, he had socks on under them and one sock even had a hole in it! He thought this was a great alternative to wearing those shoes that were way too small!!
I am really having an issue lately with how fast this little guy is growing! I am not ok with it. He is getting so big that I can hardly lift him up anymore! I keep telling him that he CANNOT grow anymore or get any bigger!! He gets really mad when I saw that and looks like he wants to cry. He says he has to get bigger....he wants to go to Kindergarten and then he wants to get as big as his daddy!
I had a quick trip to the East Coast a couple weekends ago. My uncle passed away on a Wednesday and on Friday morning I was on a flight to North Carolina for the services while Jeremiah took over at home for the weekend with the kids! It was a really short trip leaving on Friday and coming home on Sunday, but it was so great to be there with my family and spend time with cousins that I don't get to see as often as I would like!
This is my aunt's backyard...where we stayed! I love North Carolina....I think it is such a pretty state and I would live there if I could get the rest of my family to move there!! That's never happening, so I will just enjoy when I visit!!
These cute boys (my cousin's kids) made me feel right at home (especially running around in their undies)and like my kids were there on vacation with me....they were wild and crazy, but it was nice to sit back and not have to worry about disciplining, feeding, cleaning and chasing kids for a change!
My brother, me and our 2 cousins....
This picture makes me laugh. I can't remember what happened exactly, but I am sure that my dad said or did something totally perverted and disgusting to my mom and it grossed my brother and I out enough to back away from them! I love that after almost 40 years of marriage that they still love each other enough to gross us out!!
And here's a REAL picture of our family....
My brother and I both traveled without our families....I can't remember the last time my immediate family of 4 went somewhere....just the 4 of us! It was kinda different, but also really fun. Since my brother and I traveled together, we got to catch up....I think we talked more that weekend than we have in the past 10 years!! Ha!
We have a new decoration in our backyard. It's a lovely rainbow hammock.....straight from El Salvador! This is one of the treasures that Jeremiah brought back from his mission....not sure if you could really even call this a "hammock" cuz you can hardly sit in it without falling out. And actually, since these pictures were taken, we have actually laid the hammock to rest in fear that the kids would crack their heads open when playing on it! Gotta love these El Salvador treasures that come out of storage every once in a while!!
Happy St. Patricks Day!!! I worked on St. Patty's Day, so Jeremiah's mom was here watching the kids and while I was gone, she made dinner for us.....Jeremiah's favorite traditional St. Patty's Day feast of corned beef, potatoes and cabbage! I am not the biggest fan of this meal....way too salty for me, but it was really great to not have to make dinner!! =)
We welcomed in Spring and have really been enjoying the warm weather we've been having by spending a lot of time outside and going on lots of walks and bike rides! We can't wait to start going to the beach and for summer to come!! Yay for springtime.....shorts, warm weather, evening walks and flowers blooming!
I love this! We got this shirt from my friend Julie whose cousin passed away after fighting brain cancer. He has an amazing story and this was his motto: "Don't Worry, Be Happy"! I love it!! What a great way to live and since we got this shirt for Ayden, I have really been trying to think about this every day and how lucky we are for all the things we have and what a blessing it is to have a healthy family! You can check out his story here and if you click on the blog you can see Ayden's picture in his DWBH shirt! Buy a shirt....I promise it will make you happy!! =) Whenever Ayden wears his shirt, he runs around singing "Don't Worry......Be Happy"!! And the first day he wore it, we were putting him to bed and when he said his prayers, he said "Please help us to be happy....and not to worry"!!! Ahhh.....it was the SWEETEST thing EVER!! I almost cried right then and there!
Zoe's hair is crazy! She has a full head of curls and we get compliments on her curls daily! But it is crazy and out of control and sometimes reminds me of a birds nest! Whenever I look at Zoe's hair, it reminds me of this American Idol contenstant from a couple seasons ago!
She has hair that NEVER seems to grow....it just stays in this "boy stage" and won't grow past her neck!! Ugh...it's frustrating! She got through almost 2 years of life without a haircut, which probably wasn't smart of me because her hair was totally uneven and she still had crazy baby hair.....there was a patch of hair on the back of her head that was a LOT longer than the rest of her head.
I decided it was time for a haircut! So we took her in for her first haircut and she was excited....it helped that Ayden got his cut a couple days earlier! Reading magazines while waiting her turn....
She did so good....she sat there so quietly and didn't move a muscle....she was too busy staring in the mirror at her gorgeous self!!! Ha!
Cutting off the long piece of mullet that was on top of her head....
So it is now cut and all one length....hopefully it will grow now and she will have head of long curls! The "after" pictures....
A couple randoms....
Maybe I should'nt let them sit THIS close to the TV, but I love it that they are always sitting next to each other when they watch TV. When one sits down to watch TV, the other plops down right next to them!! So cute...
Ayden learned what the "F word" is this week at the park. Well, not really, but he knows that it is something really really bad! We were at the park and Ayden was swinging on the tire swing with 2 other little boys about his same age. Their babysitter was pushing all 3 boys and all of sudden, she got really mad and took the boys of the swing and went home. I went up to Ayden and asked him what happened. Here is our conversation....
Me: What happened to those boys??
Ayden: He got in trouble!
Me: Why?
Ayden: Because he said a bad word!
Me: What did he say?
Ayden: He said the F word!! (I freaked and couldn't believe that my innocent little 3 year old just said that)
Me: What is the F word?
Ayden: I dont know (thank goodness)...but it is the wrong word and he got in BIG trouble!
I can't believe kids that young can have such potty mouths!!
Ok, I am officially all caught up....at least to last weekend! I'll have to do a separate post on our little weekend getaway to La Quinta last weekend! To be Continued.....
