Ayden is a brave kid! He likes blood and guts! Anytime anyone in our house has a really bad owie, Ayden is right on top of them and is not afraid to watch blood pour out of someones body....while he figures out how to "fix" them! When I have to get bloodwork done, I turn my head and cannot watch or I might throw up.....all while Ayden's eyes are peeled on my skin as the needle pierces it and the bottle starts to fill with blood! Ewww!!! When Jeremiah was in the hospital after his bike accident this past summer, Ayden wanted to stay in and watch while they did the stitches....the doctors wouldn't let us and made me take him in the hall....little did they know that Ayden could've handled it like a champ....it was his mom that needed to be sent to the hall!! :) Anyway, so Ayden is a toughie....we have nicknamed him Dr. Ayden! There have literally been times when Jeremiah has had bad owies from mountain bike crashes and Ayden had to be his assistant to clean and bandage everything up because it made me too queesy to watch!!
With all that being said, it is no surprise at all that Ayden would pull his own loose teeth out!! His top 2 teeth have been loose for probably months!! We have been bugging him to keep wiggling them to get them ready to come out....I've given him many apples to eat to try to "force" them out! Nothing!! A couple weeks ago, on Sunday night, our home teacher was over and we somehow mentioned that Ayden had some loose teeth! Ayden got all excited and started wiggling the tooth right in front of everyone and before we knew it, his tooth was out!! I could hear it cracking and it was making me sick!! It was so fun to see his cute little smile....losing those top front teeth is the cutest I think! :) We couldn't believe he did it himself....he said he just needed an audience to watch him pull it out! HA! Typical Ayden!! :)
Ayden went to bed and anxiously waited for the tooth fairy to come! At 3:30 am, he came into our room all excited saying that the tooth fairy already came and brought him $5! He was so excited! We celebrated for about 5 seconds with him and then told him to go back to bed because it was NOT MORNING TIME yet!!! A few minutes after 4 am, Ayden was in our room again....even MORE excited than the first time.....saying that he had pulled out his other tooth!! Now he was missing both of the top two teeth! He tried to go back to sleep to see if the tooth fairy would come again, but he just couldn't sleep!! So he went and watched TV and you can imagine what kind of day we had with a boy that woke up at 3:30 am!!! Luckily it was a holiday and the kids had the day off school....so we just hung around!
The tooth fairy came again.....another $5! Geez....tooth fairies these days.....I remember being excited about a quarter!!! On Tuesday, when Ayden went to school, he was so excited to show his teacher and all his friends. His best friend had a loose tooth too, so at recess, Ayden pulled his tooth out!! Yes....the friend's tooth....not even his own tooth!! We decided we might need to start paying him to KEEP his teeth in his mouth!! :)
On Wednesday, I got a call from the school saying that Ayden had slipped in the mud at recess and his clothes were covered. So I had to take new clothes in! As soon as I walked into the office and saw Ayden in the nurse's office, he yelled at me, "Mommy, I just pulled out ANOTHER tooth"!! I didn't believe him at first until he showed it to me in his hand and flashed me another toothless smile!!! Oh my....silly boy!!! That was the 4th tooth he pulled out in 3 days!!!! I had him hurry and change his clothes in the bathroom....I was a little embarrassed cuz he was kind of making a scene (again, typical Ayden....he is a LOUD boy)!! After he changed, we walked out of the nurse's office and into the main office. That is when I took a second to get all excited for him and tell him what a cute smile he has! We talked quietly for a minute in the corner of the office before I said goodbye to him. I told him we would go to Toys R Us tomorrow and that it was a good thing we didn't go yesterday (when he wanted to go and spend his money from the first two teeth)!! I carried his tooth in an envelope that the nurse gave us and I kissed him and hugged him and said goodbye! We both turned and walked away and when I was almost to the door to exit the building, Ayden yelled, "MOMMY"!! I turned around and tried to say "what" in a quiet voice! He yelled back at me, "If I keep pulling my teeth out, we will be debt free with all the money I am making"!! LOL!! I laughed and buried my head as I made a bee line for the exit door....mortified of anyone that may have heard that (and how could they not have)!! It was funny.....I love that witty kid that has such a fun sense of humor!!! :)
Forget chores, this kid now realizes that he can pull out teeth and make much more money doing so!! HA!! So if you have a kid with a loose tooth, you better keep them away from Dr. Ayden....ready or not, it may be coming out! :) Jeremiah thinks we may have a future dentist in the family!! :) We may not even have to wait til he's old enough to be a dentist....he may get us out of debt before the end of 1st grade!!! :)
